Golf is for the Young (Get Ready!)

When I was growing up, I lived over half of the year near a golf course in Florida. However, I never touched a club until I had graduated college. Why? Mainly becuase I thought golf was for old people, not for kids who had the choice of other sports to choose from.

Kids these days certainly have recognized a good thing much earlier than I ever could have. SI Golf has reported that youth participation in golf is up 32%, while some other traditional sports rates are declining. This number includes my own teenage kids, who love to get out and hit it around (and partake in a perfectly-made grilled cheese for lunch).

Again, high-class problems for the golf industry, which is doing a great job of adapting to its offerings as the traditional patron looks more and more diverse. This also leads to different need states, different experiences and more demands on operations. This is the risk we continue to see every time we go out for a round.

There are lots of great platforms that do one/some things well. There is not any that does everything well. This leads to time inefficiency, reactive actions vs. proactive, risk of a poor experience, and leaving money on the table. CourseIQ, and The Connected Course platform, brings these existing systems together under one roof, allowing for time savings, improved operational efficiency/cost savings, an improved customer experience, and incremental revenue.

General Managers, let us help you. In the meantime, we wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving, and we look forward to reflecting on the many things we have to be thankful for.

See you on the tee box!
